Monsignor Jean de Mayol de Lupé (1873-1955), chaplain general in the Waffen-SS unit the Legion of French Volunteers and from July 1944 the SS Charlemagne Division, participated in the defence of central Berlin and the Führerbunker. Following imprisonment and the confiscation of his land at the end of the war, he was granted a full pardon in 1951. He died in 1955, and is buried in Lupé in the Loire.
